With only a week and a day left until the movie, can we stand the excitement? There are so many new interviews that I can't keep up anymore. Don't miss my new post about why.
Here is a gorgeous picture to get you through. Our next post will be the movie discussion!
See you at the movies.

Introduction

I knew I was addicted to Twilight, New Moon and Eclipse when I finished Twilight and went out and bought the hardback editions of the next two books! Then, I proceeded to read them in two days. Right after that I put myself on the list to get them from the library on CD. I kept wondering how I could get more of Bella and Edward in between now and when the new book is written. That's when I went online and find Stephenie's sight and read all I could find. I need to listen to the books again -- for the third fix...but to make things more balance, I'm listening to a few other books on my daily commute. I found myself correcting people on what vampires are like and even thinking that our creator didn't create vampires and werewolves, but still...Edward is dreamy.

To introduce myself...I'm a grandmother and have been married for 32 years to a great guy. He's not built like Edward, but I'm not built like Bella...but I can still dream and day-dreaming is fun when you have all the great things Stephenie has created for us to read. I found myself really liking Jacob in New Moon - but was grateful for the ending of that book - making me hungry for the third and fourth!

I look forward to enjoying all your thoughts and feelings about these books and other things that are on your minds!

Oops...I should have proofed the post. Sorry that you have to wade thru them...but I hope you'll forgive me and read it anyway.

Hey everyone, this is my friend Laurie, aka Turkeymama for the purposes of the blog. She heard me talking about the quote of the week last week and asked for the web address so she could visit. She emailed back the next day to see if she could join; so obviously, she is as "smitten" as all of us.

I'm glad to see your post here, Laurie; I've been waiting for you. Welcome to the blog!

well hello there and welcome! I like your comment about neither you nor your hubby looking like Edward or Bella, that was funny. But if you close your eyes just imagine the possibilities-thats what I do! LOL
Anyway, hope to get to meet you in person!

I work about 50 or so hours per week...so I don't know if I'll be free to go to the lunches I hear about, but I sure hope so! I think I already know a bunch of the group. From what I've heard from "betchafeelbetter", alot of you live near me.

Yes, I daydream - the best when I'm in the middle of the books somewhere - I love to read the meadow scene and a few of the more "private" moments between Bella and Edward and even between Bella and Jacob (sorry...I DO like Jacob - but for permanent for Bella...) He is a true friend.

lioness said...

Did you mean you like Jacob but not permanently for Bella?
We all like Jacob so its okay. We (the majority here) just can't handle gushing about him. He is definitely a very important key to what Bella has to learn about herself. And yes his friendship saved her, so we are most definitely grateful for that.

But enough Jacob talk (hee, hee)
I would really like to know the story behind your name - Turkeymama. A few of us have had some funny guesses. Maybe you are part owner of Norbest, or Thanksgiving is your favorite holiday? Would you be willing to let us in on the meaning?

And would your husband, ever in a zillion years, be willing to read our book? I'm thinking I might trick my Dad and stash them in his stack for the road (he drives a truck for a living). Then we could get a Grandpa perspective. That would be very interesting. Most of the books I have recommended to my Dad he hasn't liked. But I have yet to find someone who didn't at least enjoy reading Twilight. My brother-in-law, married to my naugthy sister who deliberately wont read them because I like them too much, gets a kick out of all of my vampire talk. He and I have some humorous TW moments and he has never even read them. He is fascinated by my many clarifications about the vampire world.

Oh and a technical question BFB. How do you get something italicized in a comment. I can't do it but I'm thinking you have been able too? Am I right and if so could you tell me?

So...whats this about lunches....whats going on here? LOL
(really just kidding!)

Welcome! I hope you're enjoying the blog, it is very fun!! I loved your Introduction post as well. I will always correct the falsehoods about vampires, probably from here on out. It just seems that's how it is, like you said.

Funny about your brother-in-law MA, that you talk about it and he hasn't read them, maybe you should get him to read them first and then he could get your sister to?? Is it Amy's husband?

Anyway, glad to have you!

Welcome to the blog! I've been out of town for 3 days so now I'm playing catch-up. Anyway, it's always nice to have a new perspective on all this TW stuff.

MA, that's so funny about your sister not reading the books just b/c you like them too much. I've stayed away from Harry Potter due to all the hype. And before I started Twilight, I hadn't heard too much about these books, but it was getting close. Glad I decided to go for it before too many more people told me to read them.

I haven't heard of lunches, but there was really good food at the meeting I went to! I think Jill mentioned the meetings to Turkeymama when they talked one time.

And to italicize or bold comments, you have to type them in html. It is simple, but I can't type the symbols to show you (or the computer gives me an error messag and won't post my comment), so bear with my explanation.

First you open your italic or bold section by pressing "shift" and "comma" at the same time. This will give you that little sideways V (or the lesser than symbol). Then you press "i" for italic or "b" for bold, followed by "shift" and "period" (that gives you the other sideways V, or the greater than symbol). So you end up with a little code that looks like except instead of square brackets, they are triangle brackets.
Then type the section that you want to be italicized.
Then you need to close the italic section by pressing "shift" and "comma" again, followed by a backslash (on the question mark key); then press "i" or "b" again, followed by "shift" and "period." This tells the computer to end the italics. So it will look like this , except, again, the brackets will be pointy.

So it is difficult to describe, because I can't type the sideways V symbols in this comment to show you. But you just have to type three symbols to open the italics, and then type four symbols to end the italics. It gets pretty quick after a few times doing it.

I just knew you guys went out at some point and got it into my head that it was probably for lunch. My mistake. If I can, I'd like to come to the monthly meetings.

And, yes, I did mean NOT for permanent for Bella...I like him a her best friend. It seemed like she was pushing herself into loving him.

I'm going to post a comment about my nickname. It takes awhile, so grab some hot chocolate and put your book down for awhile. *grin*

lioness said...

Very cute about the cocoa. I almost choked on a sip of hot chocolate the other day while reading on the blog. So be careful everyone, sip slowly, and between reading comments. RWV gave the advice to always be cautious since you never know what will strike you as funny.

lioness said...

Sorry I missed the earlier comments. I almost think I get your instructions BFB. I will play around with that.

And Ruth, I am so glad that you are glad that you did not avoid these books. Whew. Think of what you would have missed!

Did you ever give in and read Harry Potter? You really should. I finally got the CD's in at the library for the first book. It has been a long time since I've read it and the reader for the Harry Potter series is phenominal! But I will have to wait and see if Harry on CD will be the first fiction to tempt me since my beloved Twilight.

I don't know why I am commenting in backwards order. Sorry. And no we don't have to comment on everything ever said on this blog. I just do. Part of the hobby.

So first the "lunches". Trisha and I have been to multiple lunches with different groups of people to talk about nothing but Twilight. This was before we had this handy blog or an "official" organization. I sometimes miss those really obsessed days (does that scare people to hear that I was more obsessed?) I'm fairly certain it was before Jenn had even read the books. Of course we would talk about other trivia at lunch like peoples lives, etc. But the purpose for meeting was to satisfy our need to gab about the books.

RWV, it is not Amy's husband. It is Rebecca's. So Amy, I can hear right now, would go on with blah, bla,h blah, I am at a different stage MA, I have a baby, you don't, I never read, etc.
Rebecca is the Twilight rebel and has no real excuse. Very naughty.
My third sister wanted to read them but I forbid it! She was just starting to date someone and she hasn't had very much guy experience. First I didn't want her to set herself up for too much dissapointment by comparing every guy to Edward. And then I didn't want to fuel any budding romance more than necessary. Because Twilight is some fairly potent fuel, if you ask me.

As it turns out, my sister is marrying this nice boy. If my books haven't turned to powder by then from overuse, I will loan them to her in 15 years.

Ruth said...

I didn't ever read the Harry Potter books (considered a sin here in England), but I have watched all of the movies (some parts in fast-forward mode) just so I would know what my young clients were talking about.

lioness said...

Now Ruth, you are a very smart girl, and should know better than to judge a book by its movie. The two can't even compare!

Trish said...

It's probably a good thing you didn't lend your youngest sister the books MA, or else you would have always wondered if they pushed her further into her romance and an engagement!

True Ruth, you can't even compare the HP movies and books. I really didn't love the movies, I liked them okay. Give them a try sometime.

lioness said...

True words RWV!

betchafeelbetter said...

The books ARE much better than the movies. Don't expect the character depth that SM gives us, but Rowling has a lot of fun references to mythology and legends that are fun if you look for them.

Trish said...

SM definitely has done something special with the character depth she created. I haven't read many books that compare that way. Very amazing, put so well together.

You know you are addicted to Twilight when you check your email messages in reverse, so that you are reading them in the order that they were posted on the blog.
