SM on Ellen! and other Updates for the Week

Just a reminder for anyone who is interested, that Stephenie Meyer will be on the Ellen Show on Wednesday (Sept. 17th) at 4:00 on channel 4. Will we finally, after 2 1/2 weeks of nothing, hear something about Midnight Sun? I'm keeping my fingers crossed. I will put some things that Ellen said about the interview in the comments of this post. 9/16 - MTV Tuesday has Robert explaining why his lullaby wont be used in the movie. Here. Robert has really grown on me. Not that I think he is anything like Edward, for Heaven's Sake! But I like him. He seems like a genuinely nice guy. Too bad about his song.

And here is a very painful explanation of the "Spider Monkey" controversy. I thought some of you girls would get a kick out of this: (bear in mind the teenage fan-base thought Spider Monkey is drool worthy. Gag-worthy was my reaction, but oh-well, no-one asked me to write or cast the movie. Darn it.)

MTV: Are there any lines of dialogue that make you particularly proud?
Rosenberg: Well, I can tell you this: "Spider monkey," I believe, comes from Rob Pattinson. I didn't actually write "spider monkey."
MTV: Really? Because the fans already love that line in the clips we've seen when Edward tells Bella, "You better hold on tight, spider monkey!"
Rosenberg: That was an improv.
MTV: So is that one of the things where a screenwriter sees the movie and says, "Sweet improv!" Or do you go, "He ruined my script! 'Spider monkey' is not accurate!"
Rosenberg: [Laughs.] Well, what I should say is, "I came up with spider monkey on my own. I wrote that."
MTV: Someday that could be the new "This is the beginning of a beautiful friendship" — or something like that.
Rosenberg: Exactly.

MOVIE, MOMENTS, AND MORE!

Update: July 19 - I just had the most delightful Twilight Moment, so I thought I would share it with all of you. I opened my mailbox, very uncommon, nothing every worth looking at in there, ruffled through the growing stack (really I bring it in like, once a week), when my eye caught a bulging letter. Insurance bills I figured. Then I glanced at the return address. In big, script, lovely letters it read: OLYMPIC PENNISULA - gasp, flutter, its my travel brochures from Forks. I clasped it to my chest and came to write this before I have even opened it.

(its a few pieces of Bella coming to the Cullen residence. It's all wrong, but WOW anyway!)

Movie Update for June 2

6/3 - Here is a longer interview from the MTV "Larry". Roberts is almost normal. Its fun to watch.

So here is the supposed "first completed movie scene" although it didn't look complete to me. Its actually a little choppy but at this point, WHO CARES? Its Twilight, so we love it!.

And here are some silly videos of Rob but the one about his outfit is hysterical, since we are so attuned to his attire. Kristen and Rob a couple? is here, Rob's wardrobe improvement is here. He really is kind of a geeky English guy. One more reason I am convinced he has a crush on Kristen (who I heard has a boyfriend) is in this 17 magazine article. Its very short.

5/20 Movie Updates

Here is an interview with the screenwriter, Melissa Rosenberg. Very educational.

MTV's Twilight Tuesday has an Interview with Taylor video and an article to go with it.

LA Times Article: Excellent. Here is an excerpt:

Thirteen" cinematographer Elliot Davis is also back. "One thing Elliot and I tried to do with our other movies is make them feel real," Hardwicke says. "In 'Thirteen,' Elliot almost breathes with the actor. He's so intimate with them with the camera. When they're feeling something, he's so sensitive that he moves in at the right times. . . . That sort of intimacy is what we're trying to accomplish with this film too."

Attention Twilighters Everywhere!

So the Lexicon is trying to keep Twilight making records and getting the attention it deserves. The trailer has had almost 2 million views this week, but why not beat the leader on MySpace, Indiana Jones? They need another 2 million views by Monday. Not a problem. We can do our little part here at TA cant we? I am giving this myspace link just to be sure our views count. Its a smaller screen but I don't want to risk our sacrifice not reaping benefits for the movie.

Maybe we could report here on how much of a sacrifice we put forth for this effort.

I have a few minor news bits I will add later, so check back.

April 7 -
This is old news but I haven't had a chance to post it. There is a great article about the movie being made. Here are a few highlight. Its one of the best articles I have read yet:
Interviewer: Having observed them throughout the day, their family-like qualities go beyond their acting. The Cullen actors were always talking, holding hands, laughing, and fooling around with one another.
Directing a film like this is exciting for any director, but Hardwicke is one who can embrace the content especially. "I got swept away, how it would be to be a teenage girl that's so obsessive and so in love with this guy," She even hints that she's aware of some little bits in the fourth and final novel from Bella's perspective, Breaking Dawn. "At least I know it, it's in my head. I'm sure it helps give me a little, you know, a little deeper perspective." Furthermore, Stephenie has given her bits of Midnight Sun, and she has made strides to use that knowledge in the film.
And even though we didn't have the chance to interview Kristen Stewart because of her classes, Hardwicke had some positive things to say about her. "You feel like she can be this girl that this family of cultured interesting vampires would be able to love her because she's so deep. She and Rob too have gotten so far into it and trying to understand and be these characters. I mean it's radical. They're living and breathing these characters."

April 5 - Stephenie "stars" in Twilight. Well not quite. Here is an official statement from Summit about that.
"While expressing his excitement for Stephenie’s support of the film, a member of the film production staff inadvertently told an MTV reporter about Stephenie’s cameo appearance. There was no malicious intent by either party to “steal Stephenie’s thunder”. Of course Summit is sorry for the story being accidentally leaked to the press before Stephenie was able to do so. But being that it was an accident Stephenie is ok with the events that transpired."



Also, here is a statement in a report about the cafe that is the setting for SM's appereance.
"A scene from Twilight involving Bella, Charlie, and several Forks High students was filmed at the cozy and quaint Carver Cafe this week. And to answer your question, no you are not crazy; this is not a part of the book. It is however an important and pivotal scene in the movie that shows the conflict Bella is feeling over her not-so-normal relationship with Edward. It is also the place she bonds with Charlie."

This is my favorite tid-bit. An interview with the music supervisor for Twilight, (but not about Twilight). http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oLFIyFXhhHU She is apparently a big name in the industry and talks about how she chooses the music, etc. You know the song "Chasing Cars" by Snow Patrol? Well obviously this woman didn't know about Twilight when she mistakenly used that song on Gray's Anatomy. It made Snow Patrol famous. That's not how I found the song. I just heard it once on the radio and knew it was written for Bella and Edward. Anyway if Alexandra Patsavas (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0666031/) uses your song on that show, it basically becomes a huge money maker. It gives me great hopes for the Twilight movie music!

Oh my, I'm breathing evenly again. The explanation:
Well I am back in town and frantically unpacking. Actually I am leisurely enjoying my quiet time. I sat down for the only real look at my hobby I have had in a long time (yep, days). I can't post the pictures I found because the photographer doesn't want people too, but I really need some company for my freak-out fit. The photographer seems professional and our vampires have their make-up on, and the right clothes, and for fear of sounding like too big of a dork, I wont go on for an entire paragraph saying how amazingly awesome these pictures are. Mar. 18 - Movie News

Well friends. I see that to get ANYONE to say ANYTHING on this blog, I have to have movie gossip. The fact is I am actually getting behind on it. Lots going on. I still have to admit I think those Volturi mom's are a little nuts (do you think we would stalk the shooting sight if it was being filmed here?), but the fruits of their labors are pretty sweet.

I like the movie updates mostly because it helps me keep it in perspective. My take: much of the movie is really going to be great! Has to be! Much of the movie is going to be SOOOOO lame, and wrong, and incomprehensible.
