With only a week and a day left until the movie, can we stand the excitement? There are so many new interviews that I can't keep up anymore. Don't miss my new post about why.
Here is a gorgeous picture to get you through. Our next post will be the movie discussion!
See you at the movies.

Eclipse - clues for book 4

So I was browsing in Eclipse for some other great info, when I came across something Edward said about the Volturi (I'd forgotten all about it, too distracted by that annoying love triangle to really tune into the vampire stuff.) Edward said he saw in Aro's mind, the vision of Edward and Alice by his side. That was his foremost thought. Edward (mmm. . ., just like to say his name in my head,. . . sorry, I digress), said the "power of the idea intoxicated him". But he also saw that Aro was thinking about Carlisle and his family and it filled Aro with jealousy and fear. (pg 305)

Very interesting I must say. Now I am not proposing an all out discussion on Breaking Dawn theories yet. Although you are all welcome to turn it into one. I mostly just mentioned it because I was wowed by it. Great food for thought. I will miss my Eclipse Jill. But at least I can commiserate with Erin. She has no vision in sight as to when she will get her New Moon and Eclipse back, poor dear.

Very much food for thought. I like how MA has said there needs to be a purpose for Edward and Bella- even though a blissful marriage and honeymoon better be the beginning. I agree that the final conflict will be with the volturi- they wanted Edward & Alice & they are fascinated with Bella. Not to mention, by adding Bella to the family- it will make their already big Coven- bigger and more powerful. Remember also that they got the werewolves out before the volturi came- so I think they will all be involved- but will it be before Bella is changed? Will that force the change? Will Charlie end up begging Edward to save her- so that he will understand more? So many fun speculations. Im sure when book 4 comes out- it will be an all nighter. Jillikie

An all nighter for sure! I may just have to indulge in a little caffeine on that one. I mean really, can anyone imagine not reading BD from COVER to COVER with no interruptions. I don't think I have ever had a book effect me like that. Even Harry Potter 7 I read in 2 sittings. Even the Twilight Saga I took breaks during. But bring on the Mountain Dew (thats as heavy as I get girls, no RedBull for me, no offense to you caffeine addicts by the way, remember I'm kind of an amateur athlete (HA!)) I'm hyper just thinking about trying to read, word for word, BD, without freaking out into hysterics and skimming so that I finish it in 2 hours or something. I'll need pre-BD therapy I think. And in case anyone is wondering, I do do other things besides post on this blog. But nothing else as fun!

Oh, man. I was thinking I should go away or something for a few days so that my family isn't so irritated with me when BD comes out. Nothing got done in my house for 4 days when I read the books the first time through. Yes, I agree I think the Volturri will be a huge part of book 4. And the thought of the alliance with the werewolves and Cullen's is so exciting! I hope that continues. I wonder how Jacob will fit into all that. I have a soft spot for him now, I just hope he will imprint on someone and find his own happiness so he won't be tortured by Bella and Edward. But definitely, I agree a wedding and honeymoon should be the beginning of the book. She can't make us wait any longer, can she? But if they change Bella right away, she's probably going to be useless for a while, right? So will the change come at the end of the book? And if so, I want to know how that goes! What the change is actually like, what special powers she'll have (because don't we all agree she will have some?), what their relationship will be like, etc, etc...But if they change her at the beginning of the book, the Volturri will have no quarrel with the Cullens, so they must change her later, I'm thinking. Now I'm just rambling...ooh, so exciting to talk about BD!

Can I possible write anymore about this subject? I wonder if the Volturri somehow blackmail or do something to Bella so that Edward and Alice have no choice but to ally with Aro to save her. I guess it's just a vision in Aro's mind, but maybe foreshadowing? Thanks alot, Mary Ann, I'll be thinking about this all day now!

So sorry, I kind went a little crazy with my speculations. Didn't mean to turn it into an all out discussion on Breaking Dawn theories! Can't help it, too exciting!

You know, I just read that part in Eclipse a few chapters back and realized that I didn't take that whole part about Aro in the first time either. So I'm really glad that you pointed it out MA. I think it definitely may have some foreshadowing there. Edward also says how Aro kept trying to block those feelings out so they wouldn't be on the forefront of his mind for Edward to read, but was obviously unsuccessful. That kind of creeps me out now Jill, that they may do something to force Edward and Alice to join them. I had already wondered once if they may try to capture Bella or something. Hmm. I do definitely think Bella will have some cool powers. That could be a post all it's own! I hope that she changes her fairly close to the beginning of the book, after the wedding and honeymoon of course. I really want to read about how Edward does it, and all the emotions that go along with that. I also just read how Bella is thinking about being changed, thinking how she wants Edward to be the one so badly for several reasons. A few being that he being the one to make the choice would mean he really wanted to keep her and would act to do it. Also, she liked the idea of his lips being the last good thing she would feel. Then she says ("embarrassingly") that she wanted his vemon to poison her system, it would make her belong to him in a tangible, quantifiable way. - I really liked reading this part, she's thinking about all of this while she's in Jacob's living room on his couch with him while he's sleeping. I think that SM may skip through some of that first year craziness, and just touch on things. Seriously, I just can't imagine how it's all going to play out, and how she's going to put it together. This is such an exciting subject, one we could discuss for quite a while. I really can't wait for next Fall, will we be standing in line at Barnes & Noble? Hopefully we can pre order!

lioness said...

Yes, I will be at Barnes and Noble, in line, rain or shine, 24hours ahead of time, whatever it takes. And that will be to pick up anyone's preorders for them. We will be taking no risks. Then I will seal them in a fire-proof safe and chain someone valuable to it to guard, so that we can all start reading at the same time.

Anyway,
All great points Trish and Jill. Gets us a little crazy for book 4 doesn't it? I definitely think the Volturi will be the main plot for BD. Will Bella be a target too? I don't see why not. I will also point out that the Volturi waited a long time to intervene in the Seattle situation. The Cullens noticed as well. This led them to believe the Volturi would have been happy to have seen the Cullens taken out (no Eclipse in my hands to find quotes.) Jane seemed surprised (dissapointed, impressed?) that they had taken out all of the newborns. Thankfully the Cullens have an alliance now with the werewolves. But since Bella broke Jacobs heart it will be interesting to see what would force the werewolves and Cullens to join forces again (if that is even in the plot, of course. And don't doubt that I know the werewolves were involved for more than just Bella's sake).

Now sorry to be the posting police, but I want to be able to access these discussions by subject. So if you have thoughts on Bella being bitten or how, or who will, or when, or what her power will be, well just start a new post. Or wait for me to. If you are dying to say something along those lines, do it. Just don't be surprised when I copy it over to a new post at some point. Thats all. (Don't let anything I say discourage you from posting though, okay? Okay!

Yes, the blog will probably be neglected for a day or so some time next fall while we all read BD! Good call on starting a new post, I would hate for some of this new stuff to get buried because we sort of drifted away from the original post. There's so much great discussion!

Just adding my thoughts,
I agree that the volturi will be a conflict in BD.
And - Edward cannot bite Bella without violating the treaty - so I think that something with the Volturi will force another werewolf compromise on the subject.
Also, could the Volturi be interested in Bella for themselves? (not as a snack, I mean).

If you need to move this post, please do.

Hello visitor. This is the perfect place for your comments. And I totally agree. I absolutely think the Volturi have their eye on Bella, they just aren't ready or sure how they want to act yet. In the personal correspondances on the Twilight Lexicon, Stephenie explains how the Volturi were watching and waiting to change Jane and Alex because of their potential for special powers. Bella's resistance to powers must have them drooling (if they could drool of course).

In future months, which seems long to say, but time flies, (we have so much to say here and so little time to say it), we will be discussing very thoroughly every theory we have for Breaking Dawn from relationships to plot. So keep an eye on us here for great discussion with very well read Twilighters.

And your werewolf thoughts echo many of mine. I can't wait to see how SM weaves all these great plots into BD.

Let us know who you are sometime and feel free to visit. Thanks for your comments.

I totally agree too, I think the Volturi want Bella for themselves, especially Aro. I think that's why he let her go when they were in Volterra, and why Jane still left her alone in the clearing. I don't think they want to kill her, they know what she could be capable of as a vampire. Definitely, the werewolves and Volturi will all be weaved through the BD plot around Bella and Edward and the rest of the Cullens. This is fun stuff to discuss. Hopefully only about 8 months of waiting to go...

I need to stop reading Twilight before bed. My brain works overtime all night long thinking/dreaming about it when I do.
So last night I had a new thought about how Bella could become a vampire. The good guys can't bite her without upsetting the werewolves; most of the bad guys can't bite her without subsequently eating her. So who does that leave? Bella could poison herself with the venom.

Now, I'm not sure how she would do that, exactly, but I am sure that SM could figure out a way. That would also relieve Edward of the guilt of "damning" Bella in his own mind, and that would prevent the dissappointment all the readers would feel if someone besides Edward changed her.

Whatcha think?

Fun thought Cydne, and very creative. It could be possible, not sure how, but SM can do anything. I so want Edward to be the one though! But I don't want him to be sad either, and of course it will kill him when she's going through the pain of it. BD theories will eventually drive me to the brink of insanity I'm afraid.

Cydne, I do the same thing. In fact I had trouble falling asleep last night and I believe it was related to Twilight. My mind was racing, and I really wasn't tired, I wanted to keep surfing for anything new I could find and was having fun, but I forced myself to lay down. And when I'm reading at night it's the same for me too, but what a great thing to think about while falling asleep and even better to dream about!

I have a theory for BD that I have been thinking about for quite a while. Mind you, It's NOT how I hope things will turn out, but I think it is possible... You know how when you take your child (or yourself) to the doctor to get immunizations, they actually inject a very small amount of the "disease / virus / etc" into them?? Well, maybe because James already bit Bella, she will now be immune to being changed into a vampire.... Like getting chicken pox, and not being able to get it a second time. Let me know what y'all think...

Trish said...

So I do appreciate your thought Dazzled, and I must admit I haven't heard that one yet, very creative. But it pretty much just gave me a stomach ache to consider it.
I truly don't know how I'll react or what I'll do (book burning party?) if Bella isn't changed into a vampire in BD.
Anyone else have a more sane response?

jillybean22 said...

My mind simply will not accept the idea of Bella not becoming a vampire. Edward sucked all the venom out!!! That is the ONLY way. I cannot be a part of any alternate discussions. ;)

Marti said...

The reason I think that Bella might still have some of the "vampire antivirus" in her is because everytime she , or anyone else, touches the scar on her hand, they comment on how it feels cold to the touch. Seriously, I really hope this isn't how the saga turns out, but I am scared it might....

lioness said...

So yeah, this is not a happy thought. I will say more when I decide when and how to open up the complete Breaking Dawn Theory discussion. I want a meeting on it for sure.

This theory, I'm sad to say, has some merit. Stupid merit, but food for thought.

Trish said...

Well, I just don't know about that. For one, Edward got all the venom out, right Jill!!! And with immunizations, there is always a dose of the disease in your body. But we know (and he knows) that he was successful, her burning stopped and he could taste morphine! Come on, would she do that do us? I'm probably not in the right mood tonight for this. Normally I can be pretty mature about discussions. But I have to agree with Jill, my mind simply won't accept that it isn't going to happen. I hope I'm not too hormonal or something the weekend BD comes out, especially if something is way off.
