With only a week and a day left until the movie, can we stand the excitement? There are so many new interviews that I can't keep up anymore. Don't miss my new post about why.
Here is a gorgeous picture to get you through. Our next post will be the movie discussion!
See you at the movies.

Quote of the Week Jan. 15-22

Well I had a hard time choosing this week. Usually I can't find one I think will work, now I just hope I chose the one that will be fun but not too easy. Never feel badly if you find it too quickly. We have lots of back-up quotes.

" . . He rolled his eyes. I could walk home faster than this truck moves."

Oh, I think that I have read this lately...but it sounds like it could be in several places - something that Edward teases Bella about quite frequently. So, I'll have to keep thinking.

My initial guess is that Edward says this in Twilight. I'm thinking maybe it was one of those times when Bella refused to let him drive and then he gets upset because it's so slow (not to mention how slowly she drives in comparison to him). I'm not positive though. Oh, maybe it's on her birthday (first chapter of NM) and she demands that she drives since it's her b-day--so she's supposed to get her way.

I actually think I just came across this while I was doing my "studying" the other night. I have somewhere I want to look, if it's not there than I'm not positive. I'll check back, yay!

Trish said...

Shoot....I found it. Sorry, I know you said not to be sorry but I don't want you to get discouraged about quotes. I won't say of course, and give the rest of you a chance to figure it out as well. In fact, I don't think I would have found it so easily if I hadn't just read it by chance the other day!

Thats funny how we can just happen to come across things at unexpected moments. That is of course how I find all of the quotes. Lines jump out at me that I don't remember being there. So I am not going to let RWV give it away until at least 2 others find it. It's just the right balance isn't it, of fun and mystery? I always want to add more lines but I am afraid it will give things away. So sorry if these are too obscure at times.

Yeah - I'm glad that my going to bed at a decent hour (forced) didn't cause me to be too far behind. I was trying to still search, while Joseph was getting our scriptures out last night. But this morning with a few more pages flipped - I found it!! I have to admit that I didn't turn right to it, but once I got looking, I knew about where it was! So, yeah!!

lioness said...

Okay RWV, go ahead and reveal. The rest of you, coming across this new post at some leisurely moment, need to check on Tuesdays. But we will post another one this week for our ravenous werewolves.

Esmessence said...

Hah - I love it! Should we be happy or sad to be compared to ravenous werewolves? Oh well, it was sure fun!!

Esmessence said...

By the way, who am I?

lioness said...

Can you guess who Esmessence is? Of course I know. Hee, hee.

Ravenous werewolves is a compliment of course. We like werewolves in general. They get rid of scary bad vampires and have learned to respect virtuous heroic ones!

betchafeelbetter said...

Hey, you got your name changed esmessence! Hooray for you!

betchafeelbetter said...

The term in the book is "ravenous vampires." Where is that found?Ready, set, go!

lioness said...

Sorry to win here already ladies, but, um, easy one (and sorry, I don't always directly quote from the book. From here on out I will use "ravenous vampires" and if someone would find a descriptive word about werewolves from the bonfire. Sadly, I do not have my Eclipse to quote from. How do they describe all their hot dog eating?)
The point - Bella's birthday party. Paper cut leads to worse injuries and then she looks up into the "fevered eyes of the six suddenly ravenous vampires." Of course that is an interesting number 6. Who is she not including. Edward? or Carlisle? I know what I think but how about all of you?

Trish said...

So I looked at that boring chapter at the bonfire for some fun descriptive word about werewolves, but I came up with nothing. I did skim it pretty quickly, but then I went to NM where they are all eating at Emily's house, the only word I could find was "devouring" but that isn't all the cool. So, I tried. I love being compared to ravenous vampires or even werewolves.
So as far as the paper cut, I was always thinking it was Edward who was included in the 6 vampires, because blood doesn't bother Carlisle, thus his job. But now I don't know for sure, Edward is so in control of those feelings of ever losing Bella...hmmm. What a great thing to point out, has there been a discussion about this on the Lexicon that you've ever seen? What does everyone else think?

Trish said...

By the way, love the new name! It fits great, and sounds awesome...

Ok, one last one for the night. I forgot to reveal the quote. It's the part in Twilight, page 349, when Edward is driving Bella home in her truck from the Cullens (after she meets them the first time) so she can tell Charlie she has a date with Edward and is going to watch his family play baseball. They get to her house and find Billy and Jacob waiting there, Edward gets tense and tells Bella to go inside with them and that he'd be back around dusk to pick her up. She offers her truck to get back home, and that's when he rolled his eyes and says, "I could walk home faster than his truck moves." Then he reminds her that she still has to prepare Charlie to meet her new boyfriend and kisses her on the neck before she gets out (which both things are so cute). I actually love that part, when she first tells Charlie about her date with Edward, and he about has an "aneurysm". Such a funny part, I laugh whenever I read that, such a funny side of Charlie.
The way I came across this quote is because while I read "Being Jacob Black" I read the part of when Jacob is talking about Edward's nice car and how he must be her boyfriend because he just kissed her neck. So I had forgotten that sweet little tidbit, and wanted to read that again, thus I found the quote.

Trish said...

Ok, I lied, one more.
I love the picture, that's a really cool one, I keep trying to read it, she's talking to Jessica there I believe.
Don't we have a back up quote for this week ;)
How many times am I going to use the word "thus" in my comments tonight, 3 so far I believe. Funny mood I'm in.
Well, really I'm done for tonight, wish I wasn't alone all night...

Man...I sure miss some fun when I go to bed at a decent hour at night. I woke up today and had about 20 messages in my email. I never do know what is better - to read the comments off email or go adn look through all the post to see what is new. Since we do spend so much time on this hobby, does anyone have an efficient way of checking comments. Sometimes when I read my emails, it doesn't flow...but then sometimes you don't realize that something is added to an older post - oh, who knows what to do?

Trish said...

I know, I agree. Even when I miss out on something fun, I still love to get in my email and see a whole list of new Twilight related ones, it's quite exciting. I read them both ways, I'm not sure which is best. Sometimes I'll read them in my email and then go to the blog under that post and see how it flows there as well. It's great either way for me.

betchafeelbetter said...

I was just teasing about ravenous vampires vs ravenous werewolves. I think ravenous werewolves is great too! It just reminded me of that scene, and how one word can stick out in our memories.

I had also always assumed Carlisle was the non-affected vampire at the party; Edward reacted so quickly to protect Bella, but her blood still tempted him, he just didn't lose control of his reasoning.

lioness said...

And I was just teasing about taking it as a reprimand. I hope, in general, that we are all always teasing. Otherwise I have probably offended everyone on this blog. Sorry everyone.
And I actually like using Twilight-correct terminology, so it is ravenous vampires from here on out to me. Except that is a little creepier image. I said once before in a post, that we don't need to add a hee, hee to everything. We are all light hearted people so tease away everybody.

lioness said...

I'm guessing though that Edward must be number 6. He even has to leave the room, athough he doesn't want to. And he really isn't "immune" to Bella's scent (not that he ever truly is) until after New Moon. Then he says he it doesn't even bother him anymore.

The way I stay current, is to always answer the email comments. Otherwise I am sure to miss something. That is not as toucy-feely though. If you haven't noticed I am a little obsessive so I don't like to miss one word anyone has to say.

Mabye I should relax a bit but I enjoy it either way. (And I do go to the post and read the flow as well, I just always start with the email). Keep in mind though that I rarely have the experience of a large number of backed-up email because I check it so, um, obsessively (there is that word again) often. But if there are a large number on the same subject I just skip the email versions and go straight to the post to read and respond.

I never tire of finding cool pictures. Glad you liked it. Remember if anyone finds any when browsing other Twilight places, please email me a copy for my collection. Thanks.

lioness said...

I'm realizing I have missed responding to a few things.

I haven't ever seen a thread on the Lex about who the 6 vampires are. I wouldn't be surprised though. But I'm with Betcha, it is annoying over there. Too much speculation and trivia on the message boards. Sometimes though, some great thoughts, and its nice to know you are not alone.

Also, I have to say, that the word "cute" is an understatement to Edward kissing her on the neck before she goes in the house to talk to Billy. Chilling maybe?

Sorry you did feel alone last night (at 1 am), RWV. What is wrong with everyone. Don't you keep vampire hours too?

One more:
Just had to say, I had a meloncholy realization this afternoon while driving home. I was paying very close attention to the road and the cars on it, when I realized it has been some time now, several weeks, since I've seen a silver volvo.

Trish said...

Hmmm...that is a sad realization. I'm not sure I've seen one in a week or so myself. I bet we can find one if we look harder.

And yes, definitely more chilling, or more stomach gymnastics perhaps?

lioness said...

Yes chilling in the "chills from head to toe when the hottest vegetarian vampire in the world kisses your neck because he is devastatingly in love with you" chilling. Make that stomach bungee-jumping. And all over a peck on the neck.

betchafeelbetter said...

I love you guys - stomach bungee- jumping! It's too true!
And you are no longer alone in your obsessive checking of the blog TM; my husband started his new job this week, so after several months of having someone to talk to during the day, I am now in serious need of meaningful conversation - and what is more meaningful than TW, I mean, really?

And if it makes you feel better, I have yet to see a silver volvo. (I must need to get out more).

Trish said...

I agree, TW is about as meaningful as it gets for us girls! I'm glad we're here for you BFB (I don't have to say who, do I), well that we all are for each other, as far as that goes.

You haven't ever seen a silver volvo since you've read Twilight? Oh wow, you are in for a great treat! You must share you're feelings your first time. Have you read the comments on other posts about silver (or any color) volvos? There's some funny experiences there, good stuff...

betchafeelbetter said...

Yes, I think I've finally read all the old posts; it took me a little while, and I was surprised at how many silver (or champagne) colored volvos there are out there!

Trish said...

And did you try to see if it was Edward driving one of them? :)

betchafeelbetter said...

No, I meant I was just suprised at how many volvos you guys have all seen. I still haven't seen any myself yet.
Maybe I'm just to busy thinking about Twilight to notice what's around me.

Trish said...

I never really noticed Volvos myself until Twilight. It's kind the same thing as never noticing Toyota Sienna minivans until we bought ours, now we see them everywhere.
I think Ruth mentioned it once, that it doesn't even matter if it's necessarily a Volvo, any nice silver sedan seems to do it. Let us know though when you finally get to see your first one, it seems all our reactions are similar.
I used to never even listen to the radio, for weeks probably after I first read them, because I was too busy thinking of TW to even think to turn it on...

betchafeelbetter said...

I did see a cute, red Audi coupe on Friday night, and was wondering what color Edward wanted to get for Bella.

lioness said...

Not red of course. Something neutral. Bella is anything but flashy and the opposite of ostentatious. Something classy though. I can't help but think SM will include a new car for Bella in BD. I just can't see Isabella Cullen driving that truck except for old-times sake. I think I will keep my eye out for Mrs. Edward Cullens' car.

And I have to confess, I check out a lot of nice looking sedans these days since I don't have an eye perfectly attuned to pick out volvo's. Do you know I keep looking up the exact model, since the letter associated with the model number is unique. I haven't ever seen Edward's exact car. My husband was surprised at Edwards choice since Volvo's are known more for safety and performance, than speed. So I explained that the car had some work done and that made a little more sense to him. I've stopped looking at the drivers of Volvo's since it has been a little embarrassing at times. I was shocked the first time I did look to see if a gorgeous guy was driving. I've actually never been one to do that and I decided now is probably not the best time in life to start.

Here's to all silver volvo's but to only one "stupid shiny volvo owner".

betchafeelbetter said...

I was thinking Dark Blue would be a good color for Bella, since Edward likes that color on her.

Trish said...

Ooh, nice thought. I think you might be right, that Edward will buy her a car with a nice deep blue color, yes!

True, Edward doesn't exactly need to be driving one of the safest cars available. He could drive a something with the least safety ratings (like a Geo or something, sorry no offense to anyone) and not get a scratch on himself, not that he'd crash anyway, so it's totally a moot point. He's the best, best-looking driver we know of.
