And so it continues...

Well, I didn't know if I should start a new post to announce this or not. But since I've been a little out of it lately I thought I'd go ahead. So the big news is that Justin finished Twilight this morning! Last night I couldn't find him for a bit, then eventually found him tucked in bed reading Twilight, where he admitted to me that he couldn't put it down. He was at the intense part you know. Of course he was immensely disappointed that he didn't get play by play details of how Emmett and Jasper destroyed James. I told him he'd get a little more of the gore in NM and of course in Eclipse. So, he liked it ok. Never got into the lovey stuff, but I think he liked it overall more than he'll ever admit. For one thing, he called me into our room this morning and asked about where that last (technically first) chapter is from in the end of Twilight titled "The Party." Whether it was NM or Eclipse, I told him it's the first of NM, and he said, "get it will ya?" So I rushed to find it, acting like I didn't care that much, even though I was so excited, and handed it over. He's been reading it off and on today and as we speak, as well. And I didn't even ask him to! We'll see how he does. I really think he'll like the other 2 books more. There's not quite as much "shmoopy" stuff as he refers to it. I guess we'll see though!

Also, I'm glad to have my Twilight back now. I think I'm going to start reading it again. This will be number 3 for me. (Well technically...you know)

Well this is just wonderful news. It gives me hope for all husbands out there. Hope that they will learn that their wives are NOT crazy. That these books have some serious pull on us for a reason. And hope that husbands are sensitive enough to want to enjoy what we are enjoying.

More gore, okay. They are men after all.

Also there is trend for husbands to misunderstand Bella. You would think that living with whiny, oversensitive, women would soften them up to her weaknesses but not much progress there.

I agree, I'm afraid it's going to wear me out expressing my view points and opinions about Bella to him. But I won't stop, cut the girl some slack, she's awesome.
I really am just happy he's continuing without me trying to bribe him again.

He won't let up on the Shatterpoint deal though. So I'm not sure what to do. Should we, or at least I, prove Dave wrong MA? I'll have to read TW in secrecy if I start it before his book...

Darn, why isn't there a Cliff's Notes for Shatterpoint?

I am glad that your husband liked Twilight, though. Mine got stuck in the "shmoopy" stuff of the meadow and bedroom scene afterwards. He almost gave up, until I told him that he had almost reached all the action.

What I thought was funny is that the love-stuff only bothered him because he didn't want any of our children doing those things when they were teenagers. He got really upset when he was explaining that. I had to calm him down by telling him that we had a similar discussion on the blog and that I agreed with him. So I think he is plugging on... your husband's reaction gives me hope. I am excited for you (and I feel your joy at having your book back again)!

Trish said...

Hmm...are there not cliff notes for Shatterpoint? That may be a good idea...

I had to get him through some stuff as well. He actually really liked the meadow scene, well the parts that Edward is kind of freaking out and sprinting around breaking tree limbs and laughing bitterly. Not so much the bedroom scene after. But everything with the Cullens, I tell you, he's a closet Cullen family fan.

Just remember, my husband has an awful lot of extra time on his hands, or else he might not be done yet. I'm excited though because he just said that he can't believe that now he WANTS to read NM! He's mad at himself.
Funny!

Well I just had to say that he has hardly put that book down today. He was not like this with Twilight at all (except in the really exciting stuff at the end). He's like halfway done almost. Where Bella has found out about Jacob being a werewolf and has met the others.
I'm still trying to decide if he really can't put it down, or if he was using it as an excuse to get out of some of his honey-dos today. Because of course I allowed it more than normal because of the book title he's reading. Oh well, it's sure been fun to see.

I know isn't that funny - I didn't mind Joseph staying up late reading, but when he was flipping through channels, now that's a different story - JK

lioness said...

Oh no your not jk - E.

That is what was so dissapointing to me, that Dave didn't want to immediately start in on NM. I'm telling you, from living with the blog creator, and certified Twilight therapist, he feels he knows all about New Moon. Did I mention here that I had to put him in his place when he tried to use the slang "NM". If you don't read it, you don't get to abbreviate it. And don't even get me started on how I react when he tries to give an opinion on the Jacob situation. He is observant, but no way! No read, no opinion.
So he offered to make a trade. He'll read the next two books if I read one he recommends. But I haven't taken the trade. I know its a lot to hope for but I wanted him to want to read New Moon.

By the way, the dumb old library had no problem renewing Shatterpoint today. Which means it has been in my house for 3 weeks and I've read 2 pages, and that was to the little males in my house.
But I figure it was a good omen. Like I said Trish, lets take the darn things with us, and maybe that will get us through something more boring than reading SP(shatterpoint) like the dentist or something.

Well, my my I just want to say how thrilled I am about all of this! I also have an announcement. And, a special thanks to Justin, for now Jimmy thinks its cool enough to start reading Twilight. Can you just picture Trish, in future Sunday family dinners, Justin and Jimmy huddled in a corner, sipping coke and having their own little Twilight discussions, while the other males sit in the tv room watching football.
J/K-ing Justin!
I am looking forward to finally having something in common with you though!

lioness said...

For sure. If its cool enough for Justin. . . Hey Jenn does that mean he is actually going to read it? And do you trust him to do it with a good attitude?

Can I just tell you how satisfying it was to sit, during an Edward Cullen concert, oops, I mean Jim Brickman, on Friday, and during the intermission, chat TW with Erin, Joseph, and my husband. And with sincerity. It continued until Joseph realized it was going too far and said "enough of this." But E and I got in a few more worthy comments.

So toast those cokes. I hope you get that moment.
The definition of a truly awesome guy: masculine enough to wow us, but sweet and sensitive enough to at least appreciate Twilight.
I really want to do a post sometime for our husbands. All in fun of course. They could each just fire away all there hillarious cracks about their favorite parts of Twilight. I don't really ever see that happening, but a girl can dream funny dreams, can't she?

betchafeelbetter said...

TM, it sounds like your husband has been having a conversation with RWV's husband - about swapping books to read, that is.

Trish said...

That's sounds fun about your concert MA! And LOVE the idea of the "husbands" post. Mine would add a few things for sure, I'll keep a leash on him though.

And yes, it does sound like something similar that Dave is suggesting about the book swappage. He may have got that idea from Justin, do you think?

lioness said...

Dave is very naughtily perceptive about all my Twilight dealings. So yes he probably picked up the suggestion but on this end of things. Although I wouldn't doubt if they did some plotting.

Trish said...

On this end of things meaning checking out the blog?? Has he given you a book yet to read?
Justin finished NM, and he did like it. Of course he wished for more action. He said that just when it's getting good and intense, she (the author) rips it out from beneath him. I know, he's dramatic. He really enjoyed getting to know about the werewolves, and all about the Volturi, and thought they were especially creepy but cool. It took him a bit to finish it completely (once they were back from Volterra). He has started Eclipse but it's going slow for him. He's reading it just here and there, kind of like he did with Twilight. I do think he'll really like Eclipse as well as NM as he gets into it a little further. He's starting to taunt me a bit by imitating Edward and Bella conversations at the first of Eclipse like, "but he's my best friend Edward...no werewolves Bella...but I hurt him...no werewolves...but he helped me so much...I said no werewolves Bella..." And so on, and so on...In 2 different voices, high and low of course.
I hope that made sense. Even I had to try not laugh while he did it.
So we'll see, I'll share anything of significance!

betchafeelbetter said...

I just laughed out loud at your husband's conversation. I can imagine his version becoming quotable - can you picture it? whenever your husband asks you a question, if your answer is no, you respond, "No werewolves Bella..."

RWV, you are too funny! I'm so happy Justin finished NM. Maybe I'll have to borrow it again and have Adam finish it. I know he'll like it and Eclipse better than TW. I'm all for the husband's section on the blog, if for no other reason than the laughs! I love hearing all Adam's theories, so amateur. Very cute, though, and so awesome that he actually thinks about TW!

Ok, so, as predicted, Justin loved the chapter called "Legends." Some of you may not know about this chapter because it's often skipped or at least skimmed. He read it this morning and couldn't put it down until he finished that whole background story. He then corrected many of the things I told him a while back about it, I was way off on some things (surprise). It cracks me up that this of all chapters is something that intrigued him so much, and us girls barely get through it!
So, I asked him if he could be a guest at our next meeting to discuss this chapter and act out everything from it. He's very animated when he tells a story, so when he was going through it all from start to finish (yes, really), he was very into telling it to me. He was standing in front of me using his hands to describe things, pacing a bit, and all this emotion, it was great. I actually enjoyed it more listening to him tell it in his own words. I had to stifle a few laughs and try to not to smile too much, or else he would've stopped. And anything in the series that will bring out that in him (even "Legends"), I'll take it. I was quite pleased with his description. You wouldn't believe how much I didn't even slightly remember, and he made it seem interesting I must say. He said, "this is basically the whole background, what half this story is about! And you just couldn't wait to get back to romance part!" I nodded in agreement.
Anyway, it was really fun, and fun enough to share with you all. I also think he'll enjoy the background of Jasper, and his whole story. He liked Rosalie's story too, and thought it was cool and creepy that she went and killed those 5 guys in her wedding dress. Men.

lioness said...

Cool and creepy. Men, indeed.
So I am going to have to take advantage of knowing Justin well enough to pull off a trick. We have got to go to dinner, and then I am going to ask him if he can remember much about the Legends story, because I can't, which is true!

I have always figured we might need to know more about it than we allow ourselves too. Why would the editors let SM put in sooooo much about that. Now Bella uses the story once of course, when she helps Edward finish off Victoria. I sincerely hope that is the last of the Legends tie in to the story.

So having Justin re-cap it for me, I can just see the hand gestures going on, sounds much more enjoyable than reading it all again!

So its not all bad that he like it, just a little incomprehensible.

Trish said...

So that's a good thing to try on him. Especially if he's in the right mood, he might just tell you the whole background of that chapter as well. Like I said, I enjoyed it more when he explained it, pretty funny. I hope that's all that's linked to that chapter as well, but I kind of have a feeling there might be more to it in BD, Justin does, and Jimmy even agrees there's more to come with it in BD. Alas...we can discuss that in the future in our BD theories discussion.

Also, he has finished Eclipse, but hasn't said a whole lot yet. I haven't got him alone long enough, where there aren't a million other things going on. So I'll have to share a husband's point of view when we get down to it. Unless he makes me mad, we'll just have to see.

betchafeelbetter said...

I had that same thought when I first read the Legends chapter (is there anyone else here who DID read that chapter the first time through?).

Maybe I'll have to go read it & see what I can find.
