I had so much fun with Erin's quote last week that it gave me an idea. A little over-the-top idea, but you surely realize who you are dealing with at this point. So to shake things up a little bit, there are no assigned quotes. But each person can only guess on 1 per day, but in any order. This was so fun researching. Hopefully the theme for these quotes will be obvious:
- Unguessed quotes will remain in italics.
- "Which one is the boy with the reddish brown hair?"
- ". . . closing his eyes again and pressing his lips against my hair."
- "He pulled the end of my ponytail and chuckled."
- "I prefer brunettes."
- "I let my cheek press against his hair, felt the texture of it on my skin, . . ."
- "Was this why she let her tresses fan out between us?"
- ". . . catching between his fingers a strand that was fluttering in the light breeze."
- " . . .his free hand twisted into my hair and held my face securely to his."
- "-- partially obscured by a tangle of rain-darkened bronze hair . . ."
- " My heart spluttered hyperactively."
- " . . . his hair wind-blown from running."
- " . . . and it was very distracting."
- "To my shock, cascades of curls tumbled out."
- ". . . watching the sun and wind play in his bronze hair, more human than any other part of him."
- "It took a great deal of effort just to force my hands to free themselves from his hair . . ."
Bonus:"Your hair looks like a haystack . . . but I like it."

Fun idea!
My guess today is for Quote #1:
Bella asking about the Cullins on her first day at school, in the cafeteria. I think she's asking Jessica or Angela and she's referring to Edward, of course.
Of course that is it!
This is a really great idea! A fun way to shake things up a bit.
So today, I'm going to take a guess at #3:
This is the morning after their day in the meadow, and she is getting ready to go meet the Cullen family for the first time. She can't do much with her hair, so she just puts it in a ponytail (??) and says something that he thinks is funny before they leave her house, and then he does that little pull of her ponytail (the quote) - Right?
Fun - my guess is for quote #13 - I think that it is from the prom remix...talking about Bella's hair, after Rosalie and Alice work on her hair for so long. You'll have to let us know which ones get guessed correctly over the span of the week - so we don't double guess. I was going to guess on quote #1 - I knew it!!
Yes the post itself will change. When the italics are gone, they have been guessed. You are both absolutely correct.
Lets just fill in the missing precursors:
The ponytail quote is actually when they get to the Cullens house. After stunningly saying "wow" she add . . ."It has a certain charm." Then he "pulle dthe end of my ponytail and chuckled. Sigh of pleasure here.
I don't have the remix in front of me but Bella is shocked to find that her hair curled. Of course most of it they pulled up. Alas the movie gets in wrong again. Kristin is lovely, but could be more so. We've seen her photshoots.
Ok! For today I'm going with Quote #9:
Is it when he comes to pick her up for their first official date, when they're going to play baseball with Edward's family, and that's how he looks when she opens the door to him because it's raining?
This is all Twilight themed right?
My guess today is for quote #4:
Is it when Bella is asking about those vampire girls in Alaska and seems a little jealous (or was she asking about Rosalie. . . now I'm not so sure)? Anyway, Edward tells her he likes brunettes to show her that there wasn't any cause for her jealousy.
mmmmm. . . its raining today, you know. Edwards hair in the rain . . . it makes me smile. Guess what though, you are incorrect.
But you can keep guessing on this one.
Now were you being a smartie pants with your "theme" comment or are you really asking if they are all in the first book? Because they are not.
If smartie pants, then very witty.
If confused, you must really be on some strong drugs. I am grateful to see you are up and blogging though.
Ruth we were posting at the same time. I love it when that happens.
You are very close, well, correct really. But I can see you need to read these slower. So for those of us that know ever bone-melting moment in these books, are you able to clarify the scene? You've got the dialog right, but when does the conversation take place. Hmmm?
I can clarify that scene, it comes from one of the best scenes in the story, in my opinion!
The question is, can I do another today? Or maybe we should see if Ruth has another guess after she thinks about it again.
It certainly comes from one of the "hottest" scenes now doesn't it. Ruth that should help if you aren't sure.
First RWV you need to get your quote guessed correctly. Its got to be documented here. I don't think Ruth will be back until tomorrow. You decide.
Ruth keeps taking the ones I know - love you! I'll let her finish with it though...
Let's see, do I even want to try another one. Before I take a guess at one, the theme of course is 'hair' right? And they are from all 3 books...I think.
Ok, quote #7 - I think it is when Bella is sitting outside school and Mike comes up to talk to her. He does this (catching her hair) and tucks it back over her ear. Don't laugh if I'm wrong...
Well I do now know where my quote is now (I hope), but I'm trying to follow the rules and give only one guess per day, so I guess I'll wait until tomorrow.
I'll give Ruth another chance before I jump on her quote. Although, where this quote takes place is on a nice, big piece of furniture you can jump on...
Erin - Wow! I thought that one would be hard. Yes, hair. The theme sounds weird, but not when it's in quote context.
And RWV - its one quote per day, but as many guesses as you want on that quote. So finish yours today and then guess another way. Goodie!
Wow everyone. Thanks for those hints. So I'm guessing that quote was on his bed . . . when he kidnapped her? Gosh, I'm really not very good at this. Go ahead and tell me the specifics someone. Maybe after I read them slowly this next time I'll be able to remember more details. And sorry for taking the ones you know E! I only have a slight idea of one more and absolutely no idea on any of the others. I don't even know the bonus!
I hope I am doing this right,,,, #4 is from Eclipse... just after the "this would be difficult on a couch" part, Edward is telling Bella about a vampire that showed interest in him, Bella is asking questions about her (getting jealous)and he say's that he prefers brunettes.
Ok, quote #14 I think is TW when they are in the meadow for the first time - Confessions chapter I believe. It sounds like she says this as she is just watching him 'sparkle' in the sun.
So I need to clarify my other guess for Quote #9:
I'm thinking now that it's in the beginning of Eclipse, when she rushes to open the door to him and stops to take in every feature of his beautiful face. From his jawline, to his lips, his long lashes, and even his forehead...(followed by the quote) because of the rain.
Tell me I'm right!
I'm going to guess the bonus tonight, is that wimpy?
Ok then, it's the morning after their date in the meadow, and their first night together talking about everything. She wakes up wondering if it was a dream, sits up quickly, then it all comes rushing back to her and finds Edward in the rocking chair in the corner of her bedroom. Then he says that quote and she happily runs to sit in his lap...sigh
I'm going to guess on quote #15 today.
I believe it's from the meadow scene in Eclipse, when Bella is trying so hard to resist Edward...ahh
Guessing on #6 today:
An excerpt from Edward's point of view, wondering why Bella kept hiding her face behind her hair in Biology. But I actually can't remember anything else about this scene, like what the "this" means in the quote. So maybe this is just a half-guess.
Oh good one Ruth, that's one of the quotes that I had no clue about, but thinking now that it's from Edward's perspective makes it more clear. I don't remember the exactness of that either though, hmm.
Oh that is a good guess Ruth - I was actually thinking it was Bella talking about how Rosalie was always so distant from her - maybe in the 'Rosalie' chapter from Eclipse, but your's sounds more right. I'm afraid I might be all out of guesses...
Getting late. Forgive all typo's.
I am loving this week's quote guessing. Everyone is so good at this. Okay let me catch everyone up.
SB, excellent job defining #4 exactly. It is on his bed Ruth! Wooh, first time on his bed, since its the first time he has had one. But this is when Alice has kidnapped her against her will.
While she is thinking about what he has said he kisses her neck and jaw, 3 times. Tell me I'm not the only one that remembers that!
Esmessence got #14 - Lovely. It is in the meadow, but not for a while. Its after he has run away from her and then come back. They talk and then he touches her for the first time. (can you hear my heart?). He finally rests his head on her chest and that is when she watches his hair. Just 20 something days until we read it. YES!
RWV is correct about the rain bronzed hair. You know at the beginning of Eclipse B and E have only been back together for a couple of weeks. (again I am out of descriptive words. This time for words to describe my feelings when I think of all this sexy Edward descriptions).
RWV is also correct about #15. I thought that one might be tricky. But yes, its all she can do to stop kissing him with all she has, in the meadow at the end of Eclipse. What a girl!
Perfect description of the bonus RWV!
Bravo on #6 Ruth. Impressive. Yes it is from Midnigh Sun. And even though I looked up the quote, I can't remember exactly what "this" is either. We will be reading all of the best extra's with our chaper read a longs. That will be, indescribable.
Now I am taking out of italics all the guessed quotes. Sure miss you playing BFB. Don't go and get a life now.
I know there are a few more you know RWV.
We still have a few days, so good luck.
I was wondering if we'd be reading the extras along with our chapter reading. I haven't read MS in a long time, and never along with TW. Yay!!
A shot in the dark for #2:
Was this in Volterra? They get through the big ordeal with the Volturri and then as they're hurrying out of the room, a bunch of "guests" come for dinner. Edward, Bella, and Alice have to wait in some type of lobby until it gets dark outside. Bella is either sitting on his lap or very close to him. He's just holding her tight, glad to be alive, and even more glad that she's alive.
I seem to remember thinking how it must have felt for Edward to want to kiss her lips after so much time, but still being somewhat shy about it so he only dares to press his lips against her hair.
Seriously Ruth - we are definitely on the same wave length. I was laying in bed last night thinking that I should get up and go post my guess on #2 - I was thinking the same thing, Volterra. So I think we must be right..too bad that might have been my only other guess...Love you!
Alright, I'm going to give quote #8 a stab tonight. Does this by chance take place during, or right before rather, the "computer kiss?" I seem to remember something like this happening there, when he was trying to distract her especially hard, not that's it's hard to be distracted by Edward. Ok then, I'll be very curious to know!
#2 is in Volterra but it is not in the place Ruth described. Can you be more accurate E? Try.
And RWV, altough you have many "name that kiss" trophies from our many competitions, and although Edwards hands are in her hair in the computer kiss, it is not the kiss being described here. Darn, you will have to think some more about kissing Edward. Oops I mean Bella kissing Edward of course.
Bella has all of a brain so really we wouldn't be any competition anyway.
Dang! I was pretty confident about that guess. Now it makes me think it could be in many different kisses. Well then, let's go with my next thought. How about their kiss at the end of NM, in Bella's bedroom, that sweet, emotional, wonderful kiss?
(You have no idea how many kisses I'm going through in my head, and trying to picture where Edward's hands are, like both on her face, up against a car, etc.)
Sorry but that is not it either. Darn it, you'll just have to keep thinking. Thank you for the car image. Haven't thought of that one in a while. LOVE IT!
Ok, since I can't seem to pinpoint which kiss that one is yet, I'm going to guess on a different quote for today while I still think. Let's try quote #5...Is it the night in her bedroom, after they've spent their first day in the meadow together, when he's listening to her heart again or something while they're talking in her room?
#5 is in Bella's Bedroom, RWV, but it is after Volterra. When Bella first wakes up.
That was a quote that YOU gave us a few months ago as a weekly quote. That 1/3 of a brain is really getting to you. :D
I have to admit I was also shocked when RWV didn't get that one first off. I couldn't remember for sure if she had posted it but I remember talking about it.
So yes BFB, your first guess on this post and you are correct. After they have talked about what they had been missing about each other, he lays his head on her heart, so amazed to hear it again.
Let me quote:
"He closed his eyes and laid his ear over my heart again. I let my cheek press against his hair, felt the texture of it on my skin, smelled the deliciouis scent of him."
That entire scene in her bedroom is so moving. Wow.
I couldn't resist that 1/3 of a brain quip, but after I posted I was thinking that I should have kept my big mouth closed and let RWV keep on guessing.
I guess Alice is the one who spills the beans on a lot of secrets, so perhaps it is fitting.
She will forgive you, and be embarassed a little I think. But should you get to guess on another one today? I say yes, because my plan is to post new ones tomorrow and we still have 5 left. Well technically 4. E is going to get #2 when she gets a minute, I am sure.
Ok - still on #2 is it when they are still in the tunnels, not yet to where Aro is? He is holding her/half carrying her as they are following Jane...I think after he drops her down to Alice. I remember a few touching parts -
Here is your minute. Yeah. Joseph just called before you posted or I would have had to tell him what I was up too. Chatting online with YOU!
But nope. Not in the tunnels.
But you are so good. I will refrain from quoting the tunnel touching part, so that you can savor it later. I just read it to see, its so beautiful! And he does press his face into her hiar there.
This is making me nuts to read these books!
So guess again Erin.
#10- her heart sputters at the beginning of Eclipse when she meets Edward in the parking lot walking in to school. Does he kiss her hair here?
CRAP!
That's pretty funny actually that I forgot a quote I picked at one time!!
It really is great that many things are fading, I can't wait to read again!!!
Now, back to business. I think I probably would've gotten it sooner or later, but since I don't have to now (I forgive you BFB, I can take it as good as I can dish it out) I'm going to focus on that kiss I'm not remembering.
Let's go with the meadow scene in Eclipse, when Edward is getting serious about you know what and trying to show Bella just how serious he is...Woo!
Ok, I'm still thinking on #2. I am going to take a wild guess at #8...it seems that in Eclipse when Edward kidnaps Bella-compromise chapter I think...you know a lot of people's favorite kiss-he locks both her wrists up, so he might have a 'free hand' to hold her face...
So fun to have you all playing along. Yipee. But, sadly for you, you are all wrong. Sorry. (Not that sad though. Having to go over and over romantic moments in Twilight can hardly be a sacrifice really.)
#10 is not in Eclipse. In Eclipse they are driving to school and Jacob is there waiting. Not a very good time to feel anything nice.
Now in New Moon they hold hands on the way into school on her birthday. He squeezes her hand and she says when she looks in to his eyes her heart gives a squeeze of its own. He hears the stutter in her heart beat and smiles.
Stutter/splutter. Very close. Very good.
Okay RWV - his hands are in her hair. Woot is right. You know I almost put a line from "Resistance" by Cocoa, where he talks about feeling her the silky strands of her hair in the meadow, but I thought was a bit of a stretch. This however is not the exact place we are looking for. (woo, tummy flip again!)
Besides I wouldn't do two quotes from the same scene.
And E - although the Compromise kissing is some of the best, its not from there either.
I don't think I can say enough times how much I am enjoying this. It has me SOOOOO Twilighty. Again E. reviewing those parts in New Moon, what an experience. Absence from reading books really does make the heart grow fonder. I can't believe the feelings are all back and strong. And its not just the sexy allure of Edward, but his dramatic love for her that gets me. Those Volterra moments are so emotional.
Remember quote #2 is from Volterra. Do you want someone to help? What happened to Ruth anyway?
BTW - this reminiscing set me up for a lovely TW moment this evening, but you will have to go to the DD to read it. Not that you have to of course.
Bye.
#10 couldn't be in the hospital then?
Her heart monitor does go wild there but, nope. Guess again? Or are you ready for a hint?
Ok - back to #2, the only other part that they are actually showing any affection is when Bella first finds him? He grabs her and is thinking they are both dead, quotes a line from Romeo and Juliet (I think). Is it there? If not, I really can't remember another place - so I might have to go and search!
Yes, yes, yes. It is there. He thinks they are dead. First he presses his lips against her hair and then he quotes the line from Romeo and Juliet. Then he talks about her smelling the same so it must be hell he is in, but he doesn't care.
You got it.
Well crud...you can't change these until we've guessed them all, right?
I remember reading quote #11 more than once, because I've picture what that hair might look like wind blown, but I just don't know which time she says that after he shows up at her house. It could be so many places. Hmmmm....
Now back to that kiss I'm trying to figure out, I really didn't think you'd put two quotes from the same scene, but I thought I'd give it a shot. Ok then, is it the kiss in the parking lot of the restaurant Bella and Charlie eat at after graduation, when Edward is a bit freaked out about the newly discovered info, and he kisses her pretty passionately?
Okay here are some hints so we can finish these quotes today.
#8 - although all kisses are wonderful, this one is particularly emotional.
#10 - is in Twilight and is in a sense related to quote #7. Sort of opposites you could say.
#11 is in Eclipse. And he is not at Bella's house. Other times he is, like early in Eclipse when he comes in with raindrops in his hair. (squeak!)
#12 is in New Moon. I thought this one would be easy. It definitely has to do with Bella's hair.
Good Luck.
Hello! I'm here! I haven't posted any more guesses because I don't have any more. But I'm enjoying all of your guesses and trying to picture the scenes you describe.
Ok, when I think of emotional kisses I think of NM. Since my first guess on an emotional kiss was wrong, I'll go with the kiss at the beginning of NM, after the birthday party fiasco and they're in her room, it's kind of like his goodbye kiss to her...My heart aches just thinking about it...
Well I'm also going to try to guess on another one today, quote #11. Hmmm, I can't think of many places he would run to meet up with Bella besides her house, but let's got with when Charlie drops her off at the Cullen house for the Graduation Party, and Edward has followed them the whole way keeping a lookout. They meet up in front of the house before they go in and have a nice kiss. Even if I'm wrong, I think it's a pretty good guess.
My next guess for #10 is when Edward pokes a strand of Bella's hair behind her ear, I think in his car when they are talking on one of those early days.
Now we are getting there. #8 is the birthday kiss in New Moon. Very emotional. Reviewing these New Moon scenes, since it is such an emotional book, really has me so flooded again with Twilight feelings and memories.
#11 is on the Cullens porch before the party. This kiss frightened her because it had too much tension in it.
#10 - yes. Bella felt awkward when Mike touched her hair. But Edward on the other hand. Well it is hard to condense this scene. It is the day after Port Angeles and Jessica wants details. She wants to know if they are secretly dating. Bella asks Edward what she should tell Jessica. They are standing outside her classroom.
"Hmmmm. He paused to catch a stray lock of hair that was escaping the twist on my neck and wound it back into place. My heart spluttered hyperactively.
"I suppose you could say yes to the first . . .if you don't mind.. ."
So that just leaves #12. Do you want me to just tell you all that one?
AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!
Okay, so I don't really have time to add this, but I can't stand it. E and I were just talking about real life on the phone when out of the blue our conversation strayed to Twilight. How'd that happen? Anyway, if you don't count Edward carrying Bella to the nurses office, this hair tucking part is the first time he deliberately touches her, when they have both admitted they have some feelings for each other. Before, she is much to nervous and embarrassed to really take in the feelings of him touching her. He of course hasn't really given in completely to the idea that she has feelings for him. So really this is a significant gesture on Edward's part. No wonder her heart reacts. That was mumbled, but do you catch the significance here?
When I think about it that way, my heart is spluttering just thinking about it.
And tell us the last one. There are so many places Edward could be distracting - she doesn't say this in the Eclipse meadow scene does she?
No silly, the hint was, New Moon. And actually Edward isn't deliberately trying to be distracting. He just can't help it this time. Ugh. This is such a sweet part too.
I will give it away tonight though.
I will give a guess for it, is it when they are watching Romeo and Juliet together, sitting on the couch and Edward is doing all sorts of sweet things like reciting Romeo's lines in Bella's ear. I'm pretty sure he's doing something with her hair during that time...
Yes that is it!
He was asking her about watching the movie and if she was going to cry.
"Probably," I admitted, "If I'm paying attention."
"I won't distract you then."
But I felt his lips on my hair, and it was very distracting."
Lovely.
So thats all of them. Great job everyone. We may try this again some time.
Hooray! I love when one just hits me like that! I'm pretty proud of myself, I've gotten a few right today. I know, I know, we had hints. But this has still been really fun! I hope we do it again really soon!
Good job RWV - I was still trying to think when I logged on this morning . TM this was so fun!!
