Eclipse - chapter 9-19


Now that Edward has come to terms with Bella's friendship with Jacob the book of course turns toward all of the vampire turmoil surrounding Bella. Did you gain new insight? Did you read the Legends chapter this time through? Let us know . . .

I don't have my book with me, so these are random thoughts but
first - I actually read the Legends chapter this time and I didn't hate it. I even kind of enjoyed it. I didn't find any new premonitions in it, but my brain is maxed out on BD theories anyway. So I recommend reading, just to be true to SM. I can't remember, but are any of the stories related to what the real Quiluetes legends?
But I love how Bella immediately wishes Edward could have been there with her.

And I was reminded how obvious it is the Volturi are deliberately not stepping in sooner. It was like 40 something murders in Seattle over several weeks. Boy is it obvious they would have been fine letting the Cullens get taken out. I wonder how closely they were monitoring things though. Maybe just waiting in the wings for Jasper, Emmett, Rosalie, etc. to be taken out so that they could have a better shot of bringing Edward and Alice, and Bella with them? I dont' know, just a maybe.

Oh, I decided to go back and read Legends - so today is the day for that. Also, I have to post my friends guess for the way BD will work out - I'm sure that part of her theory has been already mentioned, but last week when I heard it - I thought "that sounds like the only possibility" so I'll think it through so I don't mess it up...

I still laughed when I read that part: "I punched a werewolf in the face." Gosh, I would have been mad if my dad had sided with Jake too.

Okay, so this time through I've been paying extra attention to any foreshadowing of things to come in BD. And I've found a few things to wonder about. I don't have any clear theories, just details to point out.

Who are the vampires Kate & Eleazar? (pg 306) It seems to me that SM could be introducing new vamps who might play a role in BD. And they most likely aren't vegetarians since their names haven't come up before. But I was thinking they might get involved in BD, which causes Sam to say . . . (see BD teaser quotes)

Well, maybe I'm getting ahead of myself. Are Kate & Eleazar part of Tanya's coven? The way Jasper says it makes it sound like they are separate: "Another five mature vampires would make an enormous difference. And then Kate & Eleazar would be especially advantageous on our side." And I wonder what special talents they have.
