Oh, I was so sad for Bella as she tried to talk herself into giving Jacob the rest of her heart. I actually found myself agreeing with her that it was okay to love him. And even though I knew that Edward comes back, I found myself realizing just how good Jacob was for Bella. I surprised myself that I was able to sympathize with all the "Team Jacob"-ites out there. I wonder why my feelings changed this time through. (Don't get me wrong, I still want her to be with Edward--duh.)

Well I finished reading these chapters and the 2 extras...
Starting with Bella jumping off the cliff, I can't imagine doing that! I'm such a wimp when it comes to the ocean, I'm not a very good swimmer I guess. Another way that Jacob saved her life, again I was feeling grateful for Jacob for caring so much for her and always watching out for her. Something sad and then something funny I noticed when Jacob drove her back home was first when she's contemplating so much in her mind about her and Jacob and then she hears Edward's voice say, "Be happy." It very nearly brought tears to my eyes for more than one reason. The funny thing was how nervous I felt when she was walking into her house, and realizing it very well could be Victoria waiting for her inside, it was so intense for me again! I was nervous flipping those few pages, even though it's my 3rd time through that part and of course I knew it was Alice!! I love the time that she and Alice spent together, the relief Bella felt by having Alice there was felt by me as well. And again, it was so sad to hear Charlie's account of what Bella went through after Edward left for that first week and then for those months as well. How heartbreaking as a parent to watch your child go through that. I really can understand his initial disdain toward Edward (of course I wish he'd lay off after a while. Even though Edward feels he deserves it, I never thought of how he could read Charlie's as well as everyone else's thoughts as to how Bella looked and acted after he left.)
I have a few thoughts on the extras, that I'll be back soon for.

So as far as the extras go, I love them, of course. The first one "Rosalie's News" - was as heartbreaking as ever to read! Oh my goodness, the poor guy. What an amazing portrayal of his agony. Each time I read it, the part when he's saying what it would be like if Bella ever ceased to exist, and realized he was shaking, ahh!! Their separation was equally as difficult for Edward, even though he was the one who left, he was all alone. At least Bella had people around her that loved her, that she tried to go on for (as Edward mentions at the end of NM). I suppose that's better than not??? So sweet when he almost talks himself into going back "home", to the dark window that is his only sanctuary. Stubborn guy!

When I read "Miscalculations" this time around I had kind of an interesting experience, a little different feeling. It was sort of a roller coaster of emotions for me. But as Stephenie always does, she made me feel Rosalie's emotions and it was a great insight into her personality. For the most part I'm frustrated or angry with her, but honestly I felt sorry for her when she was talking about Alice and her hurt feelings as to how she seems to care more for Bella than her. Of course I completely realize that Rosalie brings everything on herself, so that made it nice to see the parts that shows she does love her family. She's definitely lucky to have Emmett and Carlisle and Esme too. I think this enormous mistake that she made has had some good reprocussions (sp?) and possibly helped her with perspecitve somewhat. I always like to hear the physical descriptions of what vampires go through, especially ones they aren't used to. Like the knot and nausea she felt with her realization, for instance. This is really the first insight that we get into Rosalie's psyche. It was fun to read back and forth between what Alice was saying and then her, and Bella's descriptions in comparison to Rosalie's, both coming from each of their points of view.

Also I forgot to mention how much I paid attention to the whole scene where Alice "sees" what Edward is going to do in Italy. SO much emotion there. Between the 3 of them it's so intense at her house. I noticed again how sweet it was that Jacob held out the pen for her and found the pad of paper for her note to Charlie, even though he so badly doesn't want her to go. As well as reassuring her panic about leaving Charlie, and that he'll protect him, treaty or not. One point that came out that I noticed about Bella was when she was trying to figure out what Alice was saying/thinking before they left Forks, and couldn't believe the only thing keeping them still there was her worry about Bella not surviving! She was almost appalled. Then how she offered to go alone if Alice was afraid, quickly thinking if she had enough money. She didn't even think twice about it! That's the side of Bella that I love most, she really is so brave.
