Hi everyone! My name is Joy, I am a mom of two kids, and a fanatic about all things Twilight, like all of you kindred spirits on this blog. I have been reading and enjoying your site for some time now, but this is my first time posting. I am so excited about re-reading all the books together and discussing, and I am following along with all of you. Anyway, my sisters and I made a pilgrimage back to Forks, Port Angeles, and La Push last November, and I thought you might be interested in seeing the pictures! I am the person in the brown coat.
All in all, it was such a fun trip! Especially to go with my sisters and mom, so we could be silly and laugh together the whole time. I would recommend not going in November, but then, it is Forks, so you probably wouldn't have good weather any time of the year!

I loved the pictures! I am serious about wanting to go to forks with you guys. There are no other people I would want to take there. My dh would just not understand. He saw the slideshow, laughed, and walked away. As wonderful as he is, he still doesn't understand the bond we all share. SOOO, when is the next trip to Forks? June? Just let me know, I will find the money no matter what. You have to have priorities, and this is a big one.
Welcome Joy - I'm so glad that you have been enjoying this for some time!! We sure do!
Hi Joy! So great to have you on our blog with us! It's always fun to find another fan that shares in our obsession. Thanks for adding your pictures from your Forks trip, I can imagine how much fun that must have been! Welcome!
Joy! Yeah! I am so glad that you posted and that you included your pictures. They are wonderful and I bet you and your sisters, mom, (and is that Jiliann? She has gotten so big! ) had a great time- that is what I love about these books- they are fun and bring so many happy moments.
Hi Joy! Those pictures you shared are so wonderful! It really makes me want to go visit now (except for the snow/cold weather). What fun memories for everyone!!
By the way- I still have the Buddy Passes we can use to get to Seattle, but I won't have time to go until July now...
Welcome Joy! Thanks for sharing.
Have to say that my it made me laugh that Bella's business was a cafe and Edward's was an upscale clothing place (I am guessing on the clothing - but upscale nonetheless). Very fitting.
My SIL got 2 buddy passes for me & her, so more people can go. Her friend also said that flying to San Francisco and up to Seattle might have more openings, so we'd have a better chance of all getting there. Just tell me when.
You guys are all great. I just love being a part of this! Thanks for looking at my pics.
Hi Joy. I am so glad you got the slide-show to work. We are all so envious of your spontaneity. How did you go without your husband thinking your were a little, over-board?
What better to be over-board about though. It is so great having you join us. We hope you will enjoy the discussions, and bantering.
Who wants to go to Forks? Joy, do you want to go back when it is nice (as in rainy only) weather? BFB and Daz, can we set a date, or do we just go when we want? I am not sure how the buddy passes work, though I have quite a few friends who have used them. Does anyone know what the weather is like in July? Besides rainy?
SO I am serious about this. I was just looking online and the weather in July is nice, not too rainy or hot. However, Joy, where did you guys stay? I tried to look at hotel prices (since I am sure there are so many options) but I couldn't find ANY hotel in Forks. One in Fork, Canada, but that wasn't what we wanted, right?
I think I could go pretty much anytime in July. I know absolutely nothing about where to stay or where to start, etc. We could definitely do some research and find out though. For the most part... It is easier to fly non-rev (buddy passes, etc) midweek rather than on a weekend. Sun, Mon, & Fri are usually the worst days to try to fly. I wouldn't want to be gone more than 2 nights at the most. I have too many guilt feelings if I leave longer than that. The flights would be something like this: Leave SLC at 4:50pm / connect in LGB/ arrive in SEA at 8:54pm. Then returning - leave SEA at 3:50pm / connect in LGB/ then arrive in SLC at 9:57pm. It is almost a 4 hr drive from SEA airport to Forks. Forks to La Push is only a 30 min drive. Forks to Port Angeles is about 1 hr 15 min. Could we get it all in during 1 1/2 days? You guys could always stay longer if you wanted. I seriously think it would be a blast to all stay in 1 room - I'm not opposed to sleeping on a hideaway or the floor with blankets.
SEA airport to Port Angeles is 2.5 hrs driving. So maybe we would do that on our way back to the airport or on our way to Forks...
We stayed in the Olympic Suites Inn, which is right in the heart of Forks. Not the most glamorous of places, but it was clean, and we got a two room suite with a kitchen for like $80 a night. Not too pricey, but we did go in the off season.
We did the whole trip in 3 days, which was just enough time! We would have liked to spend more time on the beach, but it was VERY cold!
